Led by Jeff Owen, Superintendent of Fort Fisher State Recreation Area, this small-group experience will travel by 4WD along the beach to explore active shorebird nesting areas and the coastal systems that support them.
We’ll learn how nesting sites are identified and protected, why some areas are seasonally fenced or closed, and how dunes, crossovers, tides, and nearshore waters work together to support wildlife.
Important details:
• Friends of Pleasure Island State Parks members only
• limited to 15 participants
• reservation sign-up sent in late March
• first come, first served
